Another Nike Air Max icon gets the Terrascape treatment! Two colourways of the upcoming Nike Air Max 97 Terrascape finally emerge before its debut in the next few months. The Nike Air Max 97 is the latest Air Max to receive the sustainability-focused Terrascape makeover; following the footsteps of the Air Max 90 and Air Max Plus. And it seems like there’s more coming after this release.
While an official announcement has yet to be made, let’s check out these official photos of the two upcoming colourways.
At first glance, the shoe looks like something born out of a Virgil Abloh Off-White design archive. Transparent design, misplaced Swoosh, and vintage aesthetics give a lot of Off-White vibes. Airy mesh layers topped with fuse and translucent overlays reinforce the low-cut construction of the iconic sneaker.
The mini-Swoosh on the midfoot disappears and now resides on the rear near the collar; similar to the Air Max 95 Swoosh placement. It’s also bigger and totally looks out of place – a daring update on the popular running trainer.
Nike Grind speckles cover the midsole, where the full-length Air Max unit resides. Underneath is the same old waffle traction pattern.
Terrascape labels adorn the heel tab for branding.
Also set for a release soon is this Nike Air Max Terrascape “Ocean Blue”. It boasts a silver upper with hints of Blue, Teal, and Grey for a complementary finish.
2022 marks the 25th anniversary of the Air Max 97 among many other milestones; so it’s only fitting to give the legendary trainer a modern update with the use of recycled content.
No release dates yet, but expect the Nike Air Max 97 Terrascape to land on Nike UK soon. In the meantime, check out some fire pairs of the Air Max 90 Terrascape as well as the latest Air Max Terrascape Plus.
