The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Jackie Robinson” Honours One of Baseball’s Finest

Jackie Robinson is widely regarded as the most legendary baseballer in history. Not only was he the first African American in the MLB, he was also one helluva player too. To pay homage to his life and legacy, Nike has taken the wraps off of the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Jackie Robinson” – and here’s everything that you need to know.

While most Air Max 1s are made from a combination of leather and mesh, this special edition takes these materials to the next level. The upper is painted entirely of “Midnight Navy,” and features a perforated base and buttery suede overlays throughout. A textured Swoosh shoots through the lateral and medial sidewalls, and metallic gold hardware makes this sneaker even more exclusive. You’ll also find the number “42” on the tongue tag and lace dubrae, nodding to Robinson’s uniform number.

“Sail” panels wrap around the mudguard section for that classic LA Dodgers palette, and this clean hue extends towards the Air midsole as well. The trainer is then finished off with a grippy gum rubber outsole, making these perfect for both the baseball field and the city streets.

If you want the Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Jackie Robinson” in your rotation, marks your calendars, as they’re scheduled to release on April 1. Let us know what you think of this limited colourway, and make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps to increase your chances of securing your size.
