It’s been almost three years since Teddy Santis was crowned the new creative director of New Balance‘s Made in USA division, and within this time, the New York City-born designer has helped to make the company more hyped than ever. Every single colourway sells out as soon as it releases, and that’s something that’s definitely going to happen with the upcoming Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 990v6 “Incense.” Made in partnership with Santis’ own streetwear label, this is collaboration for the sneaker history books.
One of the first things that you’ll notice about this 990v6 is just how clean it is. Working on top of a creamy mesh base, it’s overlaid by off-white “Incense” leather panels that feel extremely luxurious. “Tan” suede wraps around the lacing system and mudguard section, while crisp cotton laces tie everything together.
Co-branded detailing features on the tongue, and additional Aimé Leon Dore logos are printed on the insole just to real drive this collab home. An oversized “N” is finely stitched on the lateral and medial sidewalls, and all of this sits on top of an extra chunky ABZORB foam midsole. This unit is then infused with FuelCell technology for extra comfort, and to round it all off, “Made in USA” is etched around the heel, just to remind you that, well, these were crafted in the land of freedom and opportunity.
Expected to drop sometime in Summer 2024, the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 990v6 “Incense” is going to make one helluva trainer when the warmer months come around. Let us know what you think of this release, and make sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop!
