Even though the Jordan Brand has been around since the mid ’80s, it’s never received a premium makeover quite like the upcoming Air Jordan 1 “Wings.” A collection that’s been on our radar for the past five months, it gives Michael Jordan’s first signature shoe its more premium makeover yet.
Instead of using the conventional fabrics like cotton and synthetic overlays, this range of opulent Nike trainers is handcrafted in Italy from genuine full grain leather, all of which has been meticulously stitched and painted, bridging the gap between high fashion and streetwear. The pack features a total of three pairs. There’s a High and Low version, both of which are dipped in off-white hues and finely debossed with the legendary winged basketball emblem across the collar.
However, the standout piece of the collection has got to be the “Triple Black” version, which combines this classic aesthetic with premium pony hair. This lavish use of material adds a unique texture and depth to the Air Jordan 1, and it’s finished off with a grippy gum rubber outsole underfoot.
But that’s not all, as the “Wings” collection extends beyond footwear and includes a wide range of apparel and accessories. Hoodies, tracksuits, varsity jackets, and shorts are made from high-end materials like cashmere wool and lambskin, while accessories, including calfskin cardholders, weekend bags, gold keyrings, and vibrant orange bucket hats and scarves, exude a level of luxury reminiscent of luxury fashion houses.
