At the end of 2022, New Balance enlisted Dave to take the wraps off of its Stone Island football collaboration. At the time, the UK rap star wasn’t officially affiliated with the Boston sportswear company, but now, two years later, he’s become one of the brand’s latest ambassadors, and his first project is to reintroduce the New Balance 1000SL to the world.
First released back in 1998, the 1000SL draws inspiration from street racing to streetwear. Working on top of a breathable black mesh base, it’s overlaid by panels and panels of silver leather throughout for that old school-meets-new school look that we all know and love. The iconic “N” logo features across the lateral and medial sidewalls, and all of this sits on top of the original rubber midsole, which debuted more than 25 years ago.
Santan Dave’s campaign was shot by celebrated photographer Ewen Spencer, who has been at the forefront of UK youth subcultures since the 1990s. It was also accompanied by a short film that was directed by Elliot Elder and George Muncy from the award-winning studio, Uncanny.
The New Balance 1000SL is set to drop on April 24th, and is expected to sell out pretty quickly. More colourways are going to be announced very soon, so keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size.
