Earlier this year, rumours started spreading across the sneakerverse suggesting that the Nike Clogposite “Chrome” was making a comeback. Regarded by many as one of the weirdest slip-on silhouettes ever released by the American sportswear company, it was first introduced in the early 2000s. And while many of you didn’t manage to secure a pair back in the day, you’ll be glad to hear that it is, in fact, releasing once again.
If you feel like the Clogposite reminds you of another trainer, you’re not wrong. Essentially, it’s a re-imagined version of the Flightposite 1, which now features a truncated design that’s easier to slide on and off. The upper is dominated by Nike‘s signature Foamposite material that spans the entire length. This is dipped then in a shiny “Chrome” hue, while “Black” neoprene replaces the traditional laces, providing a streamlined and futuristic aesthetic.
One of the key features of the Clogposite is its shank plate, which has been designed to provide stability, making it not only stylish but also functional. The milky translucent outsole complements the overall design, adding a touch of sophistication and ensuring sufficient grip.
The original release of the Clogposite in the early 2000s didn’t gain much traction, nor did its 2014 re-release under the name “Solo Slide.” However, the current footwear market, with its penchant for unique and abstract designs, is ripe for this resurgence.
Beyond the “Chrome,” Nike also plans to release additional versions throughout the year, including “Triple White” and “Volt” editions. Dropping sometime this autumn, let us know if you’ll be adding the Nike Clogposite “Chrome” to your rotation, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
