The Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” is Inspired by Mexican Heritage

This season, Jordan Brand is honouring Mexican culture with the upcoming Air Jordan 5 “El Grito.” A homage to El Grito de Dolores – father Miguel Hidalgo’s rallying cry for independence on September 16, 1810 – this collection includes two clean colourways that celebrate the country’s freedom.

The first pair features a mix of “Sail,” “Coconut Milk,” “Pink Green,” and “Dark Pony,” while the second colourway combines “Diffused Taupe,” “Dark Pony,” “Sail,” and “Apple Green.” Both versions incorporate unique elements that reflect Mexico’s vibrant traditions and diverse heritage.

The standout feature of this Air Jordan 5 pack is the laser-cut leather overlays, all of which are inspired by the ornamental architecture found throughout Ciudad de México. These details, along with embossed geometric and floral patterns on the heel cup, toe cap, and tongue, bring a classic yet contemporary aesthetic to the shoe.

The Air Jordan 5 “El Grito” is expected to drop on September 7th. Let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size!
