It’s no secret that the Air Force 1 is one of Nike‘s most iconic silhouettes. First released in 1982, it started its life as a basketball shoe, and eventually became a symbol for New York’s hip-hop scene. To pay homage to the silhouette’s legacy, the American sportswear company has unwrapped the Nike Air Force 1 “Since 1982,” and it’s essentially a new sneaker that has been designed to look like an old sneaker.
Seemingly inspired by traditional dress shoes, the “Since 1982” boasts a premium leather upper that’s dipped in a brown “Russet” hue. The Air Force 1 itself has been given a pre-aged finish, so it looks like has a beautiful patina, similar to what you may find on a pair of vintage trainers. “Coconut Milk” laces tie everything together, the the nylon tongue features a tag that has been pre-faded for the very sought-after archival aesthetic.
Underfoot, the midsole is infused with Air technology for unrivalled comfort and cushioning with every step. It’s then lined with a generous helping of gum rubber, and all of this is rounded off with a special “Since 1982” insole that was made exclusively for this limited edition release.
