Stan Smith

Want to stay stylish but not looking to wear loud colours? The adidas Stan Smith is your best bet if you like trainers with minimalist aesthetics. This classic shoe remains a top-selling model among the adidas Originals back catalogue and this shoe will continue doing so. If you’re having a hard time, we curated some of the best Stan Smith models you could cop.

The adidas Stan Smith first launched in the 60s as the Haillet, named after French tennis player Robert Haillet. Unlike other tennis shoes during that period, the trainer features leather. This was the idea of brand founder Adi Dassler’s son Horst Dassler, who wanted a sturdy and durable tennis shoe.

Adidas signed Stanley Roger Smith in 1973, at the peak of his career. With Haillet retired, adidas decided to replace the tongue with Stanley Smith labels. This was made official in 1978 as the brand officially announced the adidas Stan Smith. From that point on, the shoe became a lifestyle classic even with Smith’s retirement.

The adidas Stan Smith is unlike any other adidas classics. It features a smooth leather construction with perforations on the side that also serve as the subtle three stripes. Gold-foiled Stan Smith labels adorn the lateral side while his face appears on the tongue. Iconic adidas Trefoil logos can be seen on the heel.

You can find a lot of different adidas Stan Smith styles, but the White and Green remains the most popular colourway. Collabs with other brands plus premium Y3 versions can also be purchased if you want to try something new.

This is a timeless classic from the adidas Originals archives, and we can’t wait to see new generations of sneakerheads keep rocking this silhouette!
