Air Jordan 6

The shoe that started it all. It may not be the most popular championship Air Jordan model, but it pioneered the glorious run of Michael Jordan! The Air Jordan 6 left a lasting legacy in the Air Jordan line when MJ and the Bulls won their first NBA championship.

All Jordans worn by Michael Jordan is iconic in their own right. Most of them became popular due to their history and aesthetics alone. But with the Jordan 6, the shoe also flexes MJ’s historic first Finals win and Finals MVP. All of this kickstarted the legendary three-peat of the Chicago Bulls in the next two NBA Finals series.

The Air Jordan 6 first came out in 1991 and took inspiration from Michael Jordan’s Porsche 911. This sportscar-inspired design became the basis of other Air Jordan models in the future.

The Porsche 911’s rear spoiler is the most obvious hint found on the Jordan 6. Featuring leather, the shoe boasts multiple perforations on the sides and ankle collar.

The Air Jordan 6 also features the visible Nike Air setup in the heel. There’s an encapsulated bubble inside the forefoot for decent cushioning. This was the last Air Jordan model using this setup.

The shoe is still a mainstay sneaker in the Jordan Brand release lineup.
