Lunar New Year releases can often feel predictable. Red accents. Familiar symbols. Safe ideas recycled once a year. This one does not play that game. For 2026, adidas Originals and CLOT, led by Edison Chen, return with a collection that feels intentional from the ground up. The Year of the Horse theme runs deeper than surface graphics. It shapes the materials, the silhouettes, and the way the collection moves between heritage and modern street culture.
The standout is the CLOT x adidas Superstar Dress Shoe. This is not a remix. It is a full transformation of what we expect from a Superstar. The classic shell-toe basketball shoe is rebuilt with a cowhide upper finished in a natural horse-print pattern. The familiar rubber toe is replaced with leather, keeping the shape but changing the feel entirely.

Details matter here. Rope-style laces are tipped with gold metal aglets. Detachable leather tassels add a formal edge that feels closer to tailored footwear than sportswear. The colour palette stays grounded in soft whites and warm browns, leaning into organic tones rather than festival brights.
The Qi Flow draws inspiration from traditional kung fu slippers, translated through a fresh adidas theme. A lightweight black upper keeps things minimal, while a satin collar softens the structure.

Instead of standard laces, the shoe uses frog-button closures with pearl detailing. It is subtle, but instantly recognisable. This pair feels designed for movement, not performance metrics.
The hero piece is the CLOT Track Jacket. Built from cotton twill rather than synthetic fabric, it wears closer to a chore coat than a tracksuit top. A Mandarin collar and frog-button fastening tie it directly back to the footwear.

The Quilted jacket uses lightweight insulation to keep the profile clean while adding texture. Striping and panel placement echo traditional Chinese garment construction without leaning into costume territory

The adidas Originals x CLOT Year of the Horse collection releases January 31st, with pairs dropping on the confirmed app.
