Drake’s NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive “White” Pays Homage to a ’90s Legend

Ever since Drake and Nike first started collaborating back in December 2020, the duo have been breaking boundaries since. From the Glide to the Hot Step, the Champagne Papi is known for his retro-futuristic designs, and now, he’ll be adding another one into the mix with the NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive “White.” At a glance, this may look like an all-new silhouette, but it’s actually inspired by something from deep within the archives.

Originally introduced in 1999 as part of Nike’s Alpha Project and designed by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Air Zoom Drive predates modern classics like the Air Presto. This classic silhouette, characterised by its stretchy mesh construction for a T-shirt-like fit, is now getting a contemporary makeover courtesy of the 6 God.

For this modern rendition, the Air Zoom Drive receives a sleek “White” makeover, staying true to its minimalist roots. Crafted from a blend of ballistic mesh and ripstop nylon, the upper exudes a clean aesthetic, with leather overlays adding durability and structure. Perforations on the sides enhance breathability, ensuring comfort during all-day wear.

Other notable details include NOCTA’s signature trident logo adorning the heels and underfoot, while the pull tabs are painted in “Black” for a pop of contrast. A visible Air unit in the heels provides cushioning and support, and all of this is rounded off with a monochromatic rubber outsole, finalising the design.

Drake’s NOCTA x Nike Air Zoom Drive “White” blends the past with the present, offering sneaker enthusiasts a timeless silhouette updated for the modern era. Expected to release sometime in Spring 2024, make sure you keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to cop.
