Just when you thought we were ready for a cooling down phase from all of this years Air Max 1 heat, Nike is not letting up anytime soon! Coming soon, two special edition Air Max 1 colourways! As a nod to the annual Puerto Rican Day in June, the Nike Air Max 1 “Puerto Rico” Pack 2023 will headline the celebration. We can expect a lot of hype for this one, definitely a collector’s item with all these extra details. The two colourways will arrive in contrasting tones of orange and blue, but both pairs pay homage to Puerto Rican ice desserts called piraguas.
We have no official release date for this pack so far. However, we can expect a June 2023 launch just in time for the Puerto Rican Day Parade. In the meantime, let’s take a detailed look at these two Nike Air Max 1 renditions via @Roszko72.
Craving for some icy cool dessert to chill out in the summer heat? The Nike Air Max 1 “Blue Gale” is your best bet. This pair features a grey textile base with a blue suede mudguard. Lighter blue pigments make up the midfoot overlays. The topmost lace hole arrives in red. Special Puerto Rican tribute can be seen all over the shoe including the box which boasts ice cream flavours. Jewel Swooshes add a jelly-like look to the sneaker.
White laces will be the default laces but will also come with light blue ones.
The white PU foam midsole gives a clean look for the summer.
The tongue on the right pair features an embroidered piragua logo running in a mismatched Air Max 1.
The heel panel boasts red Nike Air branding on the left pair while an embroidered Puerto Rico lettering adorns the right shoe.
Finishing the design is a metallic silver lace dubrae donning Puerto Rico labels.
The Orange Frost colourway also arrives in a grey textile upper with a two-tone suede mudguard split in yellow and orange. A light yellow forefoot rand complements the orange leather midfoot reinforcements. Orange Jewel Swooshes add more “flavour” to this dessert.
The tongue features three ice cream flavours presumably coconut, passionfruit, and pineapple – all of which appears on the shoe box.
The heel also features embroidered Nike Air and Puerto Rico labels.
A bronze Puerto Rico lace dubrae completes the impressive celebratory colourway.
Since Puerto Rico Day occurs every June in New York, we’re not sure if this pack will ever hit the UK. We’ll let you know once more details emerge.
This is going to be a great summer release thanks to the ice cream-inspired themes on the upper.
