While all eyes are on the Air Max 95 and Air Liquid Max, Nike has quietly released an Air Max 90 colourway inspired by a classic. The Nike Air Max 90 “Base Grey Sport Royal” nods to the iconic Air 180 “Ultramarine”, a popular silhouette known for its big bubble window and one of Tinker Hatfield’s most well-loved sneaker designs. This marks the second “Ultramarine” edition of the AM90; the first one was part of the “Ultramarine Pack” from 2018.
Set to release in the coming months, check out the official images of the Air Max 90 “Ultramarine” below.

Much like the original Air 180, this AM90 features a clean white mesh upper with sail and grey tones on the overlays for a neutral contrast. Royal blue hits animate the Swoosh, lining, and toe area of the outsole. Meanwhile, vibrant orange hues cover the TPU cassette in the heel and Nike Air branding.
The cream midsole gives the shoe a vintage finish, nodding to the popularity of the Air Max line throughout the ’90s. Below, the solid rubber outsole blends black and infrared to cap off the Air 180 tribute.

The Nike Air Max 90 “Ultramarine” has no official UK release date yet as of now. However, we can expect this pair to be loaded on the Nike site and select retailers in the near future. In the meantime, you can check the latest Nike Air Max drops for Air Max Day 2026.
