When it comes to player edition sneakers, the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “UNC” is one of the best ones out there. The perfect homage to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina, this special colourway celebrates the college’s iconic basketball program. And while it’ll probably never get a public release, we’re now getting up close and personal thanks to legendary sneaker collector English Sole.
Crafted from a premium full leather construction, this Air Jordan 1 works on top of a crisp white base and is overlaid by “UNC Blue” panels throughout as a tribute to the school. A Swoosh glides across the lateral and medial sidewalls, and more branding features by the way of the winged basketball emblem, which is finely debossed along the collar section.
Unique to this player exclusive is the collegiate argyle pattern insoles and the inclusion of North Carolina logos on the tongue labels. All of this then rests on top of a Nike Air midsole, and it’s lined with a “Carolina Blue” rubber outsole, just to really drive the theme home.
As expected, the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “UNC” PE will probably never get a public release, but it’s still nice to get a closer look at some of the greatest Air Jordans of all-time. Let us know what you think of this coveted colourway, and keep it locked at Captain Creps for all of the hottest sneaker news, releases, and restocks out there.
