There are some collaborations that drop and sell out in minutes. There are other collaborations that drop and sell out in seconds. And then there are collaborations that will never drop at all, and that’s exactly what the Apple x Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Made on iPad” is all about. Earlier this week, Tim Cook took to the stage to announce a selection of brand new iPads. And while some people were looking at the actual devices themselves, most people couldn’t stop staring at the Apple CEO’s sneakers. And, honestly, we don’t blame them.
Working on top of crisp white base, Apple’s exclusive Air Max 1 features a multi-material construction and was designed on the iPad. A pair of Nike Swooshes glide across the lateral and medial sidewalls, and these are decorated with rainbow-esque stitching as a nod to the technology company’s original logo. Speckled patterns hit the mudguard, and underfoot, the midsole features that coveted Big Bubble for additional comfort and cushioning. It’s then finished off with a special “Made on iPad” tongue tag.
The “Made on iPad” edition is emblematic of the collaboration between Nike and Apple, which has been ongoing since 2006 with the introduction of Nike+. While these will most likely not get a public release, never say never, so keep it locked at Captain Creps just in case they do.
