How to Cop the Donkey Kong-Inspired Nike Air Max 1 Low Poly “Big Head Origins”

Whether you’re a sneaker nerd or a video game nerd (or both!), the upcoming Nike Air Max 1 Low Poly “Big Head Origins” is, without a doubt, one of the most hyped drops of the entire year. Releasing just weeks after the Tomb Raider-coded Air Max 1 “Adventure,” this colourway is inspired by another iconic franchise. But while the “Adventure” was available via the American sportswear company’s .SWOOSH platform, the release of the “Big Head Origins” will be slightly different. So if you want a pair in your rotation this season, make sure you read on to find out how to cop.

As you might have guessed already, the “Big Head Origins” pays homage to Donkey Kong, more specifically, Donkey Kong Origins that dropped on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1994. Working on top of a “Hemp”-hued mesh base, it’s overlaid by “Sanddrift” nubuck across the toebox and heel, while “Light Chocolate” short-haired suede wraps around the sidewalls and mudguard. These are all inspired by DK’s signature colour scheme.

Across the laterals and medials, you’ll find a “University Red” Nike Swoosh that’s a nod to his tie, and yellow accents make their way to the Air midsole, riffing off of the game’s gold coin system. All of this then comes packed in a special edition shoebox that’s almost as collectible as the trainers themselves.
