Let’s throw it back, shall we? Back in 2006, sneaker enthusiast, skater, and designer Ari Saal Forman released the Ari Menthol 10s. Only 252 pairs were made globally, and while it was created to be a piece of art, it was also an act of defiance against big corporations. When it first dropped back in the day, it was hit with a cease and desist from Nike citing its similarities to the Air Force 1.
The Menthols were immediately pulled from shelves, and now, it’s become one of the rarest and most sought-after trainers in history. With that said, it looks like the tides have turned, as the Nike Air Force 1 SK8 “Stadium Green” bears a striking resemblance to the controversial trainer. Could this be a mere coincidence? Possibly, but you never know…
Featuring a multi-material upper (like the 10s), this AF1 works on top of a smooth leather base and is overlaid by short-haired suede across the toebox, lacing system, and heel. Perforations hit the front to keep everything nice and breathable, while a giant Swoosh glides through the lateral and medial sidewalls, providing a sharp contrast that’s guaranteed to turn heads wherever you go.
Down south, the Air midsole has been re-engineered for the half-pipe, and the sneaker is rounded off with a pair of thick, flat laces, nodding to its skating heritage. This is then finished with a star-spangled rubber outsole that’s designed to keep you on your feet.
Of course, the Nike Air Force 1 SK8 “Stadium Green” probably isn’t a nod to the Ari Menthol 10s, but it would be pretty interesting if it actually was. Dropping within the next few weeks, let us know if you’ll be going for these, and be sure to keep it locked at Captain Creps for your best chance to secure your size.
