Mercedes-Benz could easily have treated the Samba as another piece of Formula 1 merchandise. Instead, its latest road-car-focused adidas collaboration turns the familiar terrace shoe into something closer to an S-Class interior. That quieter approach is the collection’s strongest idea: the branding is unmistakable, but the automotive connection comes through texture and trim rather than racing graphics.

The Mercedes-Benz x adidas Samba OG retains the model’s slim, low-profile shape while replacing its usual sporting simplicity with a more tailored construction. Grained leather covers the upper, while diamond-pattern quilting references the upholstery found inside the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Small metal Mercedes-Benz plates replace the traditional Samba lettering beside the Three Stripes, and a silver three-pointed star appears on the tongue like the ornament on a car’s bonnet. Exposed heel stitching provides a subtle break from the otherwise polished design.

Mercedes-Benz has officially named the three monochrome colourways Magic Beige, Grey Five and Black. Magic Beige makes the cabin-inspired detailing easiest to notice, with its warmer leather allowing the metal trim and quilted sections to stand out. Grey Five gives the collaboration a cooler, more industrial character, while Black is the most discreet of the trio. Each version stays restrained enough to let its materials carry the design.

Originally created as a football shoe, the Samba has grown into one of adidas’ most recognisable lifestyle silhouettes. That long history makes it a logical match for Mercedes-Benz, which is presenting the release during its “140 Years of Innovation” anniversary. The collection also marks the beginning of a wider strategic partnership between the two German brands, rather than serving purely as an extension of adidas’ existing Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 connection.
The limited Mercedes-Benz x adidas Samba OG collection will be available from 13 October 2026 via adidas online and selected adidas stores. A retail price has not been announced, and adidas has yet to confirm specific UK availability or a UK price.
