Samba

Whenever we talk about the history of adidas trainers, most would mention the adidas Samba. This iconic trainer spans countless generations in the sneaker culture, and it’s still a relevant piece of history today. We see this shoe available almost all the time, new versions such as the Vegan edition introduce something different.

The adidas Samba first came out in 1949 and designed by none other than the brand founder Adi Dassler. This is considered to be one of the Three Stripes’ best sneakers of all time. Adidas intended the shoe as an indoor football trainer and features suction cups on the outsole for better grip on most surfaces.

With the arrival of newer styles, the Samba eventually moved on from sports performance to lifestyle. This was not a disadvantage for the shoe though because more people started wearing the classic trainer casually. And thus the Samba entered the mainstream footwear culture as a Three Stripes legend.

The shoe features a leather upper with a suede mudguard for toe protection. Typical adidas three stripes adorn the sides, with the Samba label appearing on the lateral panel.

A vulcanised rubber outsole provides maximum court feel. Some can say that newer versions of the shoe boast more comfort due to the updated Ortholite sockliner. Either way, it’s enough to keep you on your feet.

The adidas Samba won’t go away anytime soon. Adidas recently re-released some OG colourways such as the White and Grey. Other fans also prefer the Black rendition.

Most sources also showcase the resurgence of the adidas Samba in terms of popularity, a testament to the timelessness and never-ending trend of this decades-old trainer.

We can expect the brand to introduce something new without taking away the recognised aesthetic of this lifestyle trainer.
