The Nike Air Max LTD 3 is one of the most underrated silhouettes in Nike’s current line-up. Introduced in late 2006, it bears a striking resemblance to the legendary Air Max 90, but with a somewhat contemporary twist that’s sure to satisfy both old school and new school sneakerheads. Crafted predominantly from leather, the star of the show has got to be the Air midsole underfoot. One of the most comfortable trainer technologies ever made, you’ll get from Point A to Point B with next to no dramas.
If you’re thinking of adding the Air Max LTD 3 to your collection, then you’ve come to the right place. Here, we’ll be talking about everything from the fit, to the overall comfort, as well as some of the colourways available.
Before you pick up a pair of Air Max LTD 3, we recommend that you try them on first. If you can’t find it in your local store, the Air Max 1 and the Air Max 90 are the closest thing to it, so slip those on to get a better idea of the fit and sizing.
While most Nike trainers generally run true to size (TTS), some also have a reputation for being narrower, especially at the toebox. The Air Max LTD 3 runs true to size length-wise, but people with wider feet might find them narrower than other shoes.
The Air Max LTD 3 come in half sizes. If you typically find normal sizes slightly small, your best bet is to go a half size up. This only applies to the length, however, so grabbing a half size up doesn’t mean that they will necessarily be wider.
We wore the Air Max LTD 3 for a full week before drawing our conclusions. Here, we’ll be talking a little bit about the quality of the trainers, the shape, comfort, fit, weight, and colour options.
It’s not easy to notice at first glance, considering the Air Max LTD 3 looks strikingly similar to the Air Max 90, but the subtle design improvements are a big win in our book. These trainers offer the same comfort that the Air Max line is known for, but with a streamlined design that’s ideal if you prefer to keep your style simple and clean.
It can be hard to tell from the photos, but the Air Max LTD 3 are pretty sleek and seamless. Featuring the same contoured shape as the AM90, it also sits on an almost identical midsole as well.
The Air Max LTD 3 gets top marks for comfort for us, as they feel similar to wearing Air Max 90 or even the Air Max 1, both of which set the bar for comfort. While Nike shoes are known for having a narrow fit, this wasn’t the case in our opinion, we felt that the AMLTD3 fit more true to size, and stayed very comfortable even after around eight hours of walking in them.
The Air Max LTD 3 trainers come in a fairly good choice of colourways. Some of the colours include:
For us, the White/University/Black colorway stands out the most as it highlights the overlays and Nike branding while complementing the streamlined design (especially when contrasted with the “Triple Black”). There are some brighter colours too, including Triple Red and Triple Orange, but you can expect them to be harder to find and with a higher price tag.
The AMLTD3 runs true to size (TTS) but with a slightly narrow fit for people with wider feet. The best thing to do before you buy them is to try them on first!
Nike Air Max LTD 3 shoes fit the same as AM90, offering a new design while keeping the same streamlined shape and comfortable fit.
All in all, the Nike Air Max LTD 3 is a worthy addition to the Air Max line. If you like classics such as the Nike Air Max 90 or even Nike Air Max 1, it’s definitely worth checking out!
