Nothing ever beats a classic. The Nike Air Max Pre-Day may be a retro-inspired modern-day shoe, but this old-school colourway delivers that classic look. The Nike Air Max Pre-Day “Black Gum” uses just two colours; two colours enough to turn the entire fit fire. Highly reminiscent of the Sacai VaporWaffle “Black Gum” from earlier in the year.

With official photos already available, the only thing we have to wait for is a release date! Let’s check out the details on this new Air Max Pre-Day colourway.

Just like most pairs, the lifestyle trainer features a mesh base with suede overlays on the toe and nylon eyestays. The tongue comes dressed in ripstop mesh. The Nike Air Max Pre-Day boasts about 25% recycled content by weight. More ripstop mesh panels adorn the collar. This rendition is equipped in entirely black.

Vintage Nike labels appear on the tongue and heel panel – a nod to Nike’s marquee running trainers. The Nike Swoosh on the sides use leather and provides structure to the lightweight sneaker.

The black foam midsole has a hollowed-out section on the heel that allows the Air Max unit to be fully exposed. This results in more bounce and lets the air bag bring responsiveness and cushioning to its full potential.

Sticking true to Nike’s running heritage, thick lugs on the waffle outsole give consistent grip on any surface. Cored-out areas feature foam for better compression and cushioning. A modern “air” label on the heel refers to the exposed heel Air unit directly underfoot.

We currently have no release date set for the Nike Air Max Pre-Day “Black Gum”, but we’ll let you know once more information drops! Expect an official release sometime in 2022.
