A throwback to adidas’ vintage silhouettes in the 80s. The adidas Continental 80 “Cloud White” arrives in a classic makeover that never goes wrong with any outfit.
The success of the adidas Stan Smith paved the way for the Three Stripes to innovate tennis trainers. They made this possible with the adidas Continental, a tennis leather trainer unveiled in the late 80s. Its low-cut build and iconic adidas “trefoil” logo was a head-turner.
It features a leather upper and a split rubber cupsole; where the forefoot and heel both have raised sidewalls for stability. Aside from the adidas window text beside the trefoil logo, a midfoot stripe that runs from the ankle collar to the midfoot adds a signature detail.
More adidas trefoil details adorn the heel panel, tongue, and rear sole area.
The outsole features a concentric traction pattern on the ball of the foot, while the rest of the sections boast multiple circular nubs.
In 2018, adidas brought back the Continental from the archives. This time under the name adidas Continental 80. The brand’s retro tennis vibes was in full display the moment it returned in adidas Originals back catalogue.
The adidas Continental 80 provides more comfort than the main model it took inspiration from. An EVA midsole insert and Ortholite sockliner serves as the main sources of cushioning. While the French terry lining ensures a soft and padded feel to ease up stress on the joints.
Still trending in 2021, this adidas Continental 80 “Cloud White” features a classic White overall pigment. It’s one of the first colourways to release, and because of its popularity, it makes its way back to retailers.
A black and red stripe on the midfoot goes along well with the adidas window logo text for a vintage detail.
Check it out on the adidas website, as well as select retailers worldwide.
