Remember when adidas and Pharrell’s Humanrace turned the NMD into a trail runner? They just turned the brand new NMD silhouette into the hardcore version of it! This adidas Pharrell Williams Hu NMD S1 Ryat “Core White Clear Pink” equips you with all the support you need; all the while keeping the NMD S1 DNA for a brand new era of the popular lifestyle shoe.

The trail-inspired NMD before only featured rugged traction patterns. That’s about it. But this new adidas NMD S1 Ryat takes things to the next level with a boot-like cut and a durable upper construction. You can’t even find adidas three stripes in here aside from the trefoil outsole!

In 2015, three game-changing adidas models pushed the brand’s popularity to greater heights. First there was the Ultraboost, then the Yeezys, and there was the NMD. The adidas NMD_R1 took design inspiration from three vintage adidas running trainers. However, this is a lifestyle shoe. It became a popular shoe on its own and was never overshadowed by the Ultraboosts and Yeezys.

Fast forward to 2021, people probably had enough of the NMD, so adidas developed a brand new model with a brand new look. Here comes the adidas NMD S1.

Primeknit makes its way back to the shoe, but in a lighter and softer weave. The sock-like collar provides the same cosy fit as the previous silhouette. The biggest update comes in the form of the sole. Before, the full-length Boost midsole comes exposed, only stabilised by rubber inserts on the sides. TPU covers the entire thing on this one, fully hiding the thick Boost inside, as well as the plastic inserts on the sides.

Below, thick trefoil traction patterns on the outsole mimic rugged outsoles for long-lasting durability and improved grip.

The adidas Pharrell Williams Hu NMD S1 Ryat “Core White Clear Pink” features a mesh base with suede overlays. Grey and White dominate the upper; two separate lace cages boast hints of Blue and Yellow to match the inserts on the midsole. Humanrace labels on the tongue serve as minimal branding.

The NMD S1 Ryat is the NMD S1’s entry in the trail shoe category; moving on from the NMD R1 Trail also popularised by Pharrell Williams.
