The adidas Pampanga SPZL “Black Chalk White” pulls a forgotten name from the archive and gives it new life. Inspired by the adidas Squire — a lesser-known model once made under licence in the Philippines — this Spezial release strips back the bulk and reworks the shape. The result? A more refined silhouette with just enough character to stand apart.
Adidas built the upper from a mix of black suede and nylon. White leather 3-Stripes and Bluebird branding bring contrast, while a spare set of black laces gives you options. The muted colourway keeps it versatile, and the retro runner influence comes through clearly in the panel lines and proportions.
To bring it up to date, adidas introduced a newly developed outsole — built using 3D printing tech — and paired it with a lightweight EVA midsole. It cuts weight without losing shape or stability, and the sole unit balances retro cues with subtle updates.
The Pampanga SPZL celebrates a different kind of adidas history — one that’s often overlooked. It draws from regional references but still fits neatly into the Spezial line’s design language.
