The modern era of sneaker culture made people widely call any Black & White colourway “Panda”. While this colour scheme is not new, we can all blame the Nike Dunk as the shoe responsible for the “Panda-monium”. Anyway, adidas remains unfazed and looks to continue dropping basic colourways in classic kicks. The adidas Rivalry Low “Black White” goes for a straightforward makeover with a dominant Black leather upper.
Vintage sneakers exude a different vibe compared to the latest styles, that’s why they’re always a classic. The adidas Rivalry is a good example of an old-school shoe still relevant by today’s fashion standards. This colourway makes it even better as it matches with most outfits!
Not everyone recognises the adidas Rivalry, but this is because this classic basketball shoe from the 80s debuted under a different name. First released in 1986, the adidas Rivalry “rivalled” Nike’s Air Jordan 1. The shoe is actually a signature trainer for New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing. He eventually left adidas for a different company, so adidas had no choice but to rename the sneaker.
The adidas Rivalry originally came out as a High, with the Low version also landing soon after. This 80s basketball shoe now belongs in the adidas Originals lineup, the brand’s lifestyle footwear category.
The adidas Rivalry Low “Black White” features a Black leather base with White accents on the adidas labels. Its clean and easy-to-style aesthetic is perfect for anyone looking for a brand new pair of shoes.
This pair launches in April 2023 along with other adidas Rivalry Low colourways. We can expect adidas to release more styles throughout the year.
