The adidas Roelee SPZL “Wild Pine” brings old-school adidas DNA into sharper focus. Taking cues from the Whalley SPZL, which itself referenced the adidas All Round, this release builds on that foundation while switching things up just enough to feel new.
At first glance, the green suede upper makes a strong impression. It’s paired with clean white 3-Stripes and subtle Halo Gold branding. There’s a co-branded tongue and a classic suede T-toe, keeping things true to adidas’ terrace heritage. A closer look reveals a small detail — mismatched collar linings, both green but slightly different shades. It’s deliberate. And it works.
Instead of the Whalley’s gum sole, the Roelee opts for the avocado foxing tape used on the Gazelle SPZL. That tweak shifts the shape, giving it more of a streamlined finish. The cream outsole balances the darker tones up top, and the overall look sits somewhere between a court silhouette and a vintage casual.
This is Spezial doing what it does best — reworking the past without overdoing it. If you’re into adidas history or just want something understated, the “Wild Pine” Roelee ticks both boxes.
