adidas McCarten x Simpsons "Ned Flanders - Left Handers Rule"

Step aside, Yeezy and Ultraboost. This adidas McCarten x Simpsons “Left Handers Rule” collab is a must-cop for the sneaker collection. Even non-sneakerheads were excited about the release! It features the outfit colours of the Simpson families next-door neighbour Ned Flanders.

The Highly acclaimed American animated sitcom The Simpsons graced our televisions in 1989. As we all know it’s set in the fictional town of “Springfield” and features some of TV’s favourite characters. Their adventures lead them to encounter many more characters, showcasing America culture and societal issues. One of everybody’s favourites is neighbour Ned Flanders.

When it comes to sneaker culture, various brands have teamed up with the hit series. Usually showcasing distinctive features of the show. A lot of adidas silhouettes arrived with the Simpsons theme in 2021 alone. Models such as the ZX 10000, Superstar, Grand Court, Forum Low, and Advantage donned The Simpsons colours. They arrived with a matching apparel collection as well if you want your fits to represent.

Nothing could beat the excitement for this unique take on the adidas McCarten though!

The adidas McCarten is a hybrid sneaker that first appeared in the Three Stripes’ SPEZIAL FW17 collection. It features a vintage design from the 1970’s which has been updated for the modern era. The name originated from avid adidas sneaker collector Bobby McCarten, who is a close friend of SPZL footwear designers.

The low-top shoe features a leather upper, as well as the sole unit of the classic Gazelle.

Starting with the upper, the smooth green leather base is reinforced with brown buttery suede overlays on high-wear areas. Metallic gold details adorn the trefoil logo and eyelets.

Ned Flanders’ pink shirt appears in the form of the sneaker’s lining. Adidas have also added more accessories, for instance the shoe has a leather Ned Flanders tag.

Because of its vintage finish, the sole utilizes the traction pattern of the original adidas Gazelle.

The shoe comes with special packaging featuring Ned Flanders holding a “Left Handers Rule” sign.
