Need we say more? Arguably one of the if not the most iconic adidas trainer around. The adidas Stan Smith returns in the OG “White and Green” build-up, but not without a twist. This classic pair of tennis trainers are now made with adidas Primegreen featuring more sustainable content.
Wear them formally, wear them casually, it doesn’t matter. The adidas Stan Smith is a certified classic hit that transcended beyond tennis. Unlike the Superstar with the three stripes, the Stan Smiths went with a more subtle design in the form of perforations on the sides.
The adidas Stan Smith came out in 1965 with a different name, the adidas Robert Halliet. It was only in 1978 where the name Stan Smith replaced the previous label. The shoe is named after Stanley Roger Smith, an American tennis player who became world number 1 and won two Grand Slam singles.
Going into the details, the Stan Smith features minimalist construction of leather. Stan Smith’s portrait appears on the tongue, as well as the namesake label on the heel panel. The rubber outsole features multiple circles to provide grip on most surfaces.
For 2021, the classic shoe returned with sustainability in mind. Sticking to the original form, Primegreen makes up the upper. Primegreen is made from a series of recycled materials that are then refined to fit the bill. At least 50% of the upper contains recycled content and no factory polyester is used.
This adidas Stan Smith “White / Green” Primegreen is exactly like the original. The comfort, style, and overall durability remain, just like what made the 60s tennis trainer popular in the first place.
It’s now available on the adidas website and select retailers worldwide.
