The adidas TRX Mesh SPZL “Hi-Res Blue Shock Yellow” brings back a legend — but with a few key changes. Originally linked to the 1980 film McVicar and worn by Roger Daltrey, the blue and yellow TRX became an icon. For Spring/Summer 2025, Gary Aspden and the Spezial team have reworked it without simply repeating the past.

Adidas used a mesh upper inspired by a 2000 Marathon TR made in Scheinfeld. They updated the pattern slightly but kept the feel authentic. Shock Yellow accents brighten the rich blue base, adding just enough contrast. The team spent time tweaking that yellow until it looked right — it’s not guesswork, it’s considered.

They also changed the tooling. This pair ditches the moulded midsole seen on past TRX reissues. Instead, it features an EVA wedge with a scooped cutaway, which sharpens the shape and adds comfort underfoot. A dimpled tongue, cotton laces and the signature 3-Stripes finish the upper, bringing together archive detail with small refinements throughout.

Rather than replicate the original line for line, Spezial approached it the way adidas once handled athlete service shoes — each pair adjusted depending on the runner’s needs. That same logic runs through this release.
