Designed especially for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics in this Ultraboost 21 “Tokyo” edition.
The adidas Ultraboost running footwear line has seen solid and steady progress since its inception in 2015. Its introduction as a ground-breaking shoe marketed somewhere between running and lifestyle proved to be a revolutionary move from the Three Stripes. Six years and multiple versions later, this Ultraboost 21 goes back to performance-focused attributes with the greatest Boost foam sole ever.
Featuring either a Primeknit+ or a sustainable Primeblue upper. The “UB 21” retains some of the original aspects that made us in love with the original. First theres the sock-like fit, but don’t forget the separate TPU lace cage, heel clip, and of course a thick slab of Boost foam on the midsole. The Ultraboost 21 is built with modified features, the Primeblue upper is lighter and has a taller heel collar for a better fit. Whereas the heel counter covers both the lateral and medial side for heel stability and improved support.
Lets not forget the main feature, adidas gave the Ultraboost 21 6% more Boost capsules in comparison to its predecessor. The brand also introduced a new torsion system called LEP (Linear Energy Push) that stiffens the forefoot so every step acts like a bouncy spring. A modified Stretchweb outsole finished with Continental Rubber returns in a brand new look.
As part of the Tokyo Collection for the Olympics, this colourway of the Ultraboost 21 arrives in Cloud White, Core Black, and Solar Red. It released early July 2021, just weeks before the Tokyo summer Olympics started.
Starting with the Ultraboost 19, adidas has re-imagined the appearance of the Ultraboost 1.0 and switched their attention to a more performance-focused shoe. One for the runners as the brand looks to further improve this popular gym shoe.
