A couple of models later, the ZX series from adidas finally reached five digits. The adidas ZX 10000 “Core Black” arrives for the modern era; while staying true to the ZX signature features that made us fall in love the first time.
The ZX footwear line from adidas debuted in 1984. Intended as a running trainer, ZX silhouettes boasted various attributes that catered to runners of all kinds. Aside from the numerals, ZX models featured colour-coding schemes varying from blue, yellow, green, and red. These colours symbolised some of the essential aspects of a running shoe such as cushioning, support, guidance, and even racing.
One of the most recognisable features of the adidas ZX sneakers is the adidas Torsion system. It’s an external midfoot shank that’s been utilised on a lot of adidas performance models. Torsion became a mainstay in the ZX series, providing support and stability every time you wear the shoe.
This adidas ZX 10000 is the reimagined continuation after the ZX 9000. Yes, it’s been decades after the 9000 and the ZX 10000 only arrived in 2019; but we all know that it’s better late than never. Luckily, this new ZX model remained true to form with its low-cut build, three stripes placement, and the ol’ reliable Torsion system.
Opting for a lighter, more breathable feeling than ever before, the ZX 10000 boasts mesh, textile, and suede upper fabrics. A rigid heel counter stabilises the shoe even more.
Underneath, the EVA foam midsole provides decent cushioning. It goes hand-in-hand with the Torsion system seen on the outsole. A thick lug traction pattern completes the legacy of the ZX line.
The ZX 10000 “Core Black” is available now on the adidas UK website.
