Looks like Jordan Brand’s taking the phrase “start ’em young” a little too literally! Exclusively made for kids, the Air Jordan 1 Mid (GS) SS “Black + Red = Bred” pays homage to the sneaker’s history. This Sneaker School edition seems to bring back iconic colourways of certain Jordan Retros; to preserve its rich history for the next generation of sneakerheads.
Consider this shoe as a step-by-step tutorial for the kids about one of the most popular Air Jordan 1 colourways. The shoebox alone shows that this is basically a colouring book; except in the form of a sneaker, and the sneaker already comes coloured in Black and Bred.
Peter Moore may have passed away just recently, but his legacy lives on with his sneaker designs. One of his masterpieces is the Air Jordan 1, which came out in 1985 and changed the basketball and streetwear landscape forever.
The Air Jordan 1 first came out in the high-top version, then eventually came in Mids and Lows. Tumbled leather makes up the leather, while nylon completes the tongue. The rubber cupsole encases an embedded Air unit in the heel for minimal cushioning.
One of the most popular colourways of the Air Jordan 1 is the “Bred”, usually worn by Jordan during Away games; the “Bred” was also mistaken for the banned shoe during MJ’s rookie season.
This special Air Jordan 1 Mid (GS) SS “Black + Red = Bred” is a kids’ exclusive release meant to enlighten them about the “Bred”. It incorporates the same colour blocking as the iconic makeover; with repeated “BLACK” letterings on the black portions while “RED” covers the red areas.
Just to make sure you don’t forget the colourway, Jordan Brand put a “Black + Red = Bred” label on the rear midsole.
The box comes in all-white, with a Sneaker School label meant for the young ones. Various outlines referring to the parts of the Air Jordan 1 and a “COLOR ME” label finish off the design.
One of the most unique design approaches from Jordan Brand in recent memory. Stay tuned for its release this May 2022. A great alternative for those who missed out on the “Patent Bred” because it’s basically the Bred with some updates.
