Using two colours on a trainer may prove challenging. But Jordan Brand dared to bring another version of the classic Black and Red, or “Bred”, on the Air Jordan 1. How? Well, in this Air Jordan 1 Mid “Reverse Bred”, the tones switched for a brand new makeover. Pure Chicago Bulls vibes right here.
Reverse colour blocking is nothing new when it comes to sneakers, and this Air Jordan 1 Mid capitalises on that. Instead of a dominant black leather upper, Gym Red takes over most of the body, while hints of Black appear on key areas. A straight-up reverse between two beloved colours on basketball shoes gave this J1 a unique finish.
Debuted in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 went beyond basketball and became the very definition of various cultures. From streetwear, hip hop, and even skateboard, the J1 was a staple option for both style and function. It’s one of the pillars of the sneaker culture – with the OG colourways becoming the grail for a lot of sneakerheads.
Featuring a leather upper and a rubber cupsole, it would seem like the shoe had nothing else to offer. But the aesthetics and style alone make the Air Jordan 1 one of the best sneakers to buy. It’s highly recognisable by just about anyone aware of Michael Jordan or sneakers in general.
For 2022, the Black and Red on the Bred 1 switched places for this Air Jordan 1 Mid “Reverse Bred”. Gym Red makes up most of the leather upper, while Black hits the vamp, ankle collar, heel, Swoosh, and laces.
See, Mids aren’t that bad. And this shoe definitely proves its value. Expect a full-size run release in early 2022 on Nike and select retailers worldwide.
