Only re-releasing for the first time since its first arrival, the first thing to ask is “how it’s been”? Back for the first time ever in OG form since 2006, the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Green Bean” joins the fire roster of Jordans in 2022. The pop of Green and Grey stands out so well; making it a stunning trainer for those looking to turn heads. Elusive colourways from decades back such as this one finally return true to form; and we’re still only scratching the surface. Expect even more of this from Jordan Brand in the future!
This non-OG colourway first came out in 2006 and has not been heard ever since. But in 2022, we finally get another run at the Air Jordan 5 “Green Bean”.
The Air Jordan 5 is one of the most popular early Jordan Retros. This is the third Air Jordan designed by Tinker Hatfield after taking the helm since the Air Jordan 3. With World War 2 fighter jets as design inspiration, the biggest highlight of this shoe is the shark teeth design on the forefoot. Plastic netting on the sides provides ventilation while TPU panels on the eyestays reinforce the basketball sneaker.
A thick and padded tongue with reflective details also became one of the main signature details of the Air Jordan 5.
Upper materials usually vary from leather to nubuck, but this rendition boasts a full 3M reflective base. The entire Grey panels from the upper to the tongue feature a reflective detail under the right lighting conditions. Green makes up the lining, shark teeth, and Jumpman logos on the tongue, heel, and outsole.
The signature icy translucent outsole finishes things off for the Air Jordan 5 Green Bean’s first-ever return.
Keep an eye out for its release in June 2022 on the Nike website and select retailers worldwide.
