No matter how dark or stealthy the Air Jordan 5 gets, you can never count out the signature reflective tongue! This Air Jordan 5 Retro “Racer Blue” arrives with an all-black suede makeover and hints of Metallic Silver and Racer Blue. Highly reminiscent of the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Motorsport Alternate” in the past; except there’s no icy sole.
The first-ever Air Jordan model to feature a reflective tongue, the Air Jordan 5 remains sought after through the years. This rendition sticks to the basics and retains all the iconic features that made the shoe popular at launch. Jordan Brand’s “Racer Blue” colourway lands on the J5 after appearing on the Air Jordan 3 last 2021.
Looking to give an identity of its own, Tinker Hatfield drew out the Air Jordan 5 by taking inspiration from WW2 fighter jets. The shark teeth design on the forefoot midsole became a symbol that only Jordan Brand could pull off. The mesh netting on the sides, transparent lace lock, and padded tongue with reflective materials are the main design features.
The thick PU sole encases the Nike Air units, where a visible air bag appears on the heel portion. Underneath is the decoupled herringbone traction outsole.
Jumpman logos adorn the tongue, heel, and outsole to complete the futuristic design.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro “Racer Blue” features an all-black nubuck upper. Racer Blue accents cover the PU sole, Jumpman logos, and tongue lining. Grey mesh netting and tongue add some vibrance to the blacked-out colourway.
A translucent outsole finishes off the design, and the icy sole just makes the shoe much better!
