It’s honestly refreshing to see a different kind of Chicago. While we’re probably all used to seeing “Chicago” colourways as the usual Red, Black, and White, this shoe says otherwise. The Air Jordan Legacy 312 Low “Chicago Flag” pays tribute to the Chicago flag with its colour combination. Not to mention it also has the iconic elephant print popularised by the Air Jordan 3!
Jordan Brand looked at another angle and found a different way to pay tribute to Chicago. This time, it’s not the Chicago Bulls but rather the flag of Chicago consisting of White, Light Blue, and four Red stars. As a result, we get another fire colourway of the hybrid Jordan Legacy 312.
The Jordan Legacy 312 originally released in 2018 designed in collaboration with popular streetwear designer Don C. As a “legacy” tribute to Michael Jordan, the shoe combines design cues from the Air Jordan 1, Jordan 3, and Nike Air Alpha Force Low; all of which were worn by Michael Jordan himself.
The Air Jordan 1 design inspiration appears on the perforated vamp, eyestay, and tongue; meanwhile, Air Alpha Force Low aesthetics make up the midfoot strap, as well as the slightly raised ankle collar lining. The Air Jordan 3 finishes it off with the mudguard, TPU heel panel, and the entire sole unit.
The shoe came in both high and low renditions, with multiple colourways gracing the market occasionally.
This Air Jordan Legacy 312 Low “Chicago Flag” capitalises on the legendary “Black Cement” makeover with additional hints of Light Blue and Red as an homage to the Chicago flag. Black leather makes up the base, with elephant prints on the forefoot and heel mudguard ala Jordan 3.
Red hints adorn the “NIKE” on the rubber strap, the lining, and the solid rubber section on the front outsole.
Light Blue finishes off the Swooshes on the sides and the Wings logos on the tongue.
An icy blue translucent outsole completes the fresh new design.
Stay tuned for its official release in May 2022 on the Nike website.
