ASICS Gel Lyte III x Nice Kicks "Nice Cream"

Japanese sportswear powerhouse ASICS teamed up with popular American sneaker site Nice Kicks for a delightful treat for the summer. Quite literally, this ASICS Gel Lyte III x Nice Kicks “Nice Cream” reminds us of our favourite ice cream flavours!

The third running trainer in the Gel Lyte series proved to be a remarkable classic as it continues to release. ASICS Gel Lyte III came out in 1990 and boasted a whole new look compared to the previous models. With running in mind, Gel Lyte III designer Shigeyuki Mitsui brought a split-tongue construction to the shoe to improve the fit. This allowed the nylon tongue to adapt to the width of the foot, making runners focus completely on their game.

A mix of old-school and modern materials make up the body. The mesh base upper is lightweight and allows for enough breathability to keep the feet dry. Leather and suede reinforce the shoe and ensure durability in key places. A Gel Lyte III label on the lateral side became another iconic detail for the 90s running shoe.

GEL cushioning within a foam carrier provides cushioning exactly where you need it. It’s finished off with a thick rubber outsole featuring lug traction patterns.

This new colourway of the ASICS Gel-Lyte III arrives in partnership with popular sneaker site Nice Kicks. Nice Kicks is known for teaming up with various brands for special colourways, and this “Nice Cream” rendition is one of the latest from the group.

The shoe features a textile base upper with suede overlay reinforcements. Ivory makes up most of the body, while hints of brown and pink make up the back panels to resemble chocolate and strawberry.

The speckled midsole adds more to the ice cream theme. As well as the Mint Green outsole for a popping finish.

Completing the design is the cherry hangtag for a sweet and fancy serving that would “melt” people’s hearts.
