New Balance 550 White / Green

New Balance continues the 550 hype with this New Balance 550 “White/Green” colourway! You can never go wrong with a pair of these classic basketball trainers. The massive attention caused by the Aime Leon Dore x NB 550 collab allowed this model to quickly gain massive popularity. Even general release colourways such as this one will be snapped up by sneakerheads.

Showcasing vintage basketball shoe features, the New Balance 550 launched in 1989 as the “P550”. Its simple and clean construction boasts the “N” logo and “550” label on the lateral panels. Perforations appear on the sides for breathability. All of this makes for a beautiful vintage looking crep!

Although it intially returned to the New Balance vault, runners such as the 990x Series were more popular. Fast forward to 2020 and its a completely different story. Teddy Santis and his New York-based fashion label Aime Leon Dore revived the shoe for a collab that included the 550 and a range of matching apparel.

The New Balance 550 suddenly grew in popularity due to this. This particular collab re-sells for a LOT. They’re extremely limited and can’t be picked up too easily.

As a result, New Balance brought out a heap of new colourways of the 550. Similar colourways almost instantly sell out as the shoe continues to rack up sales.

Looking at the details of the shoe, premium leather dresses the entire body of the shoe. While padded mesh interiors hug the foot and improve the overall fit of the shoe. Extra New Balance logos grace the heel and the tongue.

A rubber sole showcases supporting clips on the heel and the forefoot for stability. Further New Balance logos adorn the side midsole. To top it off the outsole is finished with thick blade-like traction pattern which gives you long term durability.

This new colourway of the New Balance 550 combines White and Green accents. A suede forefoot overlay brings that vintage vibe to the shoe.
