One of the most popular lifestyle trainers from New Balance continues its solid run nearly halfway through 2022! After the hype from the Aime Leon Dore collab paved the way for this vintage hoops model; New Balance introduces more flavours with a wider release! This New Balance 550 “White / Grey” sticks to a clean and classic colour blocking for a style that matches many outfits.
Ever since New Balance brought back the New Balance 550, things have been great for the Boston-based sportswear brand. Whether it was New Balance’s own version of the Air Force 1 or not, the success it gathered in just a short amount of time is impressive.
The New Balance 550 originally came out in 1989 as New Balance’s marquee basketball shoe. First called the P550 Basketball Oxford, the shoe was the low-top version of the New Balance 650. And just like the rest of the basketball styles from the 80s, these New Balance kicks transitioned from sports to lifestyle.
Leather makes up the majority of the upper; with mesh layers on the heel for a lightweight ride. Perforations on the sides provide breathability to the shoe. Signature “N” and NB logos adorn the sides and heel. An embroidered 550 label appears on the forefoot.
The tongue features a jersey mesh fabric with a New Balance and basketball logo on the top.
On the cupsole, more New Balance logos appear.
Thick multidirectional traction patterns with a concentric pattern under the ball of the foot provide consistent grip on all surfaces.
This New Balance 550 “White / Grey” features an all-white leather base with Grey hues on the brand tags, heel collar, inner lining, and outsole.
