Following various collabs on other models, New Balance and Aime Leon Dore brings a trio of New Balance 650 colourways. This new collab between New Balance and ALD strengthens the relationship as ALD founder Teddy Santis joins NB as Made in USA creative director. This New Balance 650 x Aime Leon Dore “Classic Pine Green” goes for vintage aesthetics to achieve the signature ALD look.
New Balance takes another “forgotten” sneaker from the vault and reintroduces it after three decades. The New Balance 650 first launched in 1989 as a basketball shoe, rocking a perforated leather base construction with a fattened collar for a better fit. This crep returned in 2022 after New Balance recognised the success of its counterpart, the 550. New Balance re-released the 650 the same way the brand brought the 550 back: a collab with Aime Leon Dore.
The classic New Balance 650 returned thanks to a collaboration with New York fashion label Aime Leon Dore. The collaboration highlights the classic silhouette, featuring a combination of new and traditional colours, details and materials. This trio showcases gum rubber soles as the main highlight of the collab.
The iconic ‘N’ logo gets cut out, exposing an open mesh layer underneath. This also appears on the collar for reduced weight and more ventilation. The New Balance 650 x Aime Leon Dore “Classic Pine Green” features classic colourways of white and pine green which blend perfectly with the sail white midsole.
It’s no wonder, given its timeless design, that this style has been a popular one in the past few years. Comfort is ensured with the EVA foam midsole, and the gum rubber outsole delivers traction that never fails.
