New Balance’s Made in USA “Grey Day” collection is in a league of its own. So New Balance dropped it nearly a month after the Grey Day celebration. Comprised of premium models, this New Balance 998 Made in USA “Grey Day” arrives in grey and navy tones. The entire Made in USA label keeps thriving ever since ALD founder Teddy Santis joined as creative director!
If you’re looking for Made in USA beyond the 990x selections, the 998 is something you must consider! This model celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2023, and there’s no better time to try a pair with this special Grey Day colourway.
The New Balance 998 first came out in 1993 as a running shoe. This silhouette incorporated the brand’s ABZORB cushioning on the midsole, a first time for any New Balance trainer. It takes visual DNA from other 99x silhouettes, hence the low-cut build and the sleek shape.
The shoe features a mesh base with pigskin suede overlays, a signature formula for most NB 99x and 990x silhouettes. N logos appear on the sides while New Balance 998 labels appear on the tongue. This premium sneaker remains a mainstay sneaker among the brand’s Made in USA collections. With Teddy Santis now as Made in USA creative director, expect some more impressive drops featuring the 998.
This New Balance 998 Made in USA “Grey Day” lands in a grey mesh base with dark grey suede overlays. Navy accents appear on the N logos and some suede panels on the forefoot and collar. Tan pigments can be seen on the plastic clip near the rear.
