New Balance’s 99x series dates back to 1982 as the brand breaks the retail benchmark of performance running shoes at the time. This led to the arrival of more advanced 99x models that features modern-day technology for the new era. This New Balance 991 Made in UK colourway is crafted with premium materials at the brand’s factory in Flimby, Cumbria, UK.

The New Balance 991 originally came out in 2001, nearly two full decades after the 990 series made its debut. No, New Balance didn’t develop the 991 for 19 years; but rather there were other models before it such as the NB 995 to 999 and the 990v2. The 991 boasted a new foam technology called ABZORB.

Mesh makes up the upper of the shoe, with pigskin and synthetic overlays as reinforcements. Suede also appears on most colourways – bringing that smooth and soft feeling that we all love.

The thick midsole incorporates ABZORB cushioning for a bouncy and supportive ride. A heel counter and a foam insert stabilise the shoe to prevent injuries.

Rugged style traction patterns consisting of flex grooves and N logos complete the outsole.

This New Balance Made in UK 991 “Grey Off White” celebrates 40 years of the 990x line with a classic Grey colour blocking. Various accents of Grey comprise the mesh, suede, and synthetic leather construction of the shoe. Off-White hues cover the tongue and heel midsole portion in a familiar fashion.
