A new version of the timeless classic Nike Air Force 1 Low appears for a 2022 debut! The Nike Air Force 1 Low Crater Flyknit Next Nature “Black / White Oreo” arrives in April; joining the other Triple White colourway as the sustainability-focused trainer set out on a new journey towards zero carbon emission.

Nike is certainly motivated with their Move to Zero and Next Nature campaigns. This is very evident with the number of recently released models donning a certain percentage of recycled materials on the shoe. With this new AF1 silhouette, Nike incorporates the beloved Flyknit upper with Nike Grind rubber and Crater foam. All that makes up for a fresh and updated iteration.

2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the Nike Air Force 1. What started as a simple basketball shoe for hoopers turned out to be one of the most recognisable sneakers in history. Since 1982, the Nike AF1 went from ceasing production to becoming the definition of various cultures; specifically hip-hop and streetwear.

The AF1 features a leather upper and a thick PU midsole equipped with a Nike Air unit. Concentric traction patterns on the outsole provided that reliable grip for on-court moves. The shoe was also available in three main versions namely the High, Mid, and Low. Years later, the popular sneaker took on a different form as Nike gives the AF1 the modern treatment.

This Nike Air Force 1 Low Crater Flyknit Next Nature “Black / White Oreo” features a full Flyknit upper. Unique weaves similar to “Digi Camo” and “Honeycomb” patterns adorn the Oreo combination of the shoe. Additional details include the lace dubrae, knit tongue, and heel pull tab. Leather eyestay keeps the structure intact.

Crater Foam makes up the sole; coming with the signature speckles as an indication of the recycled content. Translucent rubber portions on the toe and heel use Nike Grind rubber for more outsole durability.

Because 2022 celebrates the AF1’s 40th year, expect a lot of surprises as we look back at the sneaker’s long history. In the meantime, stay tuned for this launch in April 2022.
