Nike Air Max 1 x Kasina Won-Ang "Particle Grey" DQ8475-001

We’re past Nike Air Max Day 2022, but Nike keeps bringing more heat throughout the year! First thought to be a South Korea exclusive release, we finally have a confirmed launch of this hyped collab! The Nike Air Max 1 x Kasina Won-Ang “Particle Grey” celebrates 25 years of the South Korea-based streetwear label. This Mandarin ducks theme is made for all the lovers out there! A worthy follow-up to the Nike x Kasina Dunk Low from 2020.

Just like the previous Nike Kasina collab, the Air Max 1 appears in two matching pairs; fulfilling the “Made To Be Together” theme as a reference to Mandarin ducks who love their partners for life. First released in South Korea, both pairs of the Nike Air Max 1 x Kasina now has an expected release here in the UK.

2022 marks the 35th year of Nike Air Max technology and the Air Max 1 because it was the debut silhouette.

The Nike Air Max 1 originally came out in 1987 as the first running shoe with visible Air. Tinker Hatfield wanted to incorporate Nike Air’s true potential, so he decided to clear out the heel section and exposed it; having to experiment with various components that can increase the durability of the Air unit while providing more bounce.

This decision revolutionised Nike’s running trainers for the rest of the 90s, releasing annual Air Max silhouettes looking to perform better than their predecessors.

The Nike Air Max 1 x Kasina Won-Ang “Particle Grey” is one of two colourways in the special Kasina collab. Also celebrating the streetwear brand’s 25th anniversary in 2022, this rendition takes inspiration from loyal Mandarin ducks. Dark Blue Green makes up the leather base of the shoe; while a Grey fuzzy suede mudguard with a flower Swoosh on the forefoot resembles the ducks. Faux ponytail panels on the midfoot stay true to the theme. Sail White Swooshes, laces, and midsole bring vintage hits to the special trainer.

Nike labels in Korean language appear on the tongue and wooden lace dubrae; embroidered Grey Mandarin ducks on the heel showcase where the colourway took design inspiration from.

The clear icy sole serves as the window to the Mandarin duck drawings.

We finally get a chance to cop a pair or two in this heat collab! Keep an eye out for its release in late June 2022.
