More special edition Nike Air Max 1 colourways emerge ahead of the special Air Max Day 2023 celebration! The Shima Shima collection from the early 2000s brought two Air Max 1 colourways exclusively released in Europe and Japan. Fast forward to 2023, and we have a new Shima Shima rendition inspired by both styles. The Nike Air Max 1 “Shima Shima” 2023 lands in neutral-heavy tones of Brown and Grey atop a White base.

Nike always puts in a lot of effort during the annual Air Max Day celebration in March. Started in 2014, we are now close to honouring its 10th year by 2024. This Shima Shima edition combines the previous models into one, making it twice as special!

Not everyone may appreciate the Nike Air Max 1 as much as the Air Max 90. But this shoe paved the way for the history of Air Max trainers. Originally released in 1987, the Air Max 1 went through a tough process to perfect the visible Air unit. The 1986 prototype featured four Air Max pillars but was eventually scrapped due to popping tendencies.

Tinker Hatfield put his architectural mastery to the test and went on to create this masterpiece of a shoe.

Now 35 years in the market and counting, Air Max Day celebrations are always special thanks to awesome Air Max 1 designs.

This Nike Air Max 1 “Shima Shima” 2023 features a White leather base with Grey midfoot overlays. Brown comprises the mudguard, Swoosh, and laces.

The Shima Shima signature styles include the Japanese character on the tongue and the striped inner lining.
