A strikingly familiar yet different Nike Air Max 95 colourway arrives for 2022. This Nike Air Max 95 NH “Ironstone” incorporates a more sustainable hemp textile fabric with a “Neon”-like colour scheme. The muted tones and natural upper fabrics gave the shoe a look of its own. Nike’s stepping it up in terms of their sustainability campaign.
At first glance, this new colourway looks exactly like the Air Max 95 “Neon” with a rather vintage effect for a toned-down look. The biggest change, though, comes from the natural hemp fabric making up the exterior. This is a new move from Nike as the brand continues to push for recycled content and sustainable materials.
A masterpiece by designer Sergio Lozano, the Nike Air Max 95 was a popular trainer at launch. Lozano incorporated two visible Air Max units in the heel and forefoot for a well-balanced and cushioned ride; making it a delight to the eyes of runners. Even past running, the AM95 became a staple Air Max icon because of its aesthetics – which is inspired by 90s athletics and the human body.
The wavy upper panels are meant to resemble the muscles while the lacing setup the ribs. The midsole acts as the spine. A mini Swoosh on the rear keeps brand identity at a subtle approach.
This new Nike Air Max 95 NH “Ironstone” arrives with a fuzzy suede toe cap and a natural hemp upper. Earthy tones of Brown, Grey, and Beige make up the wavy panels as well as the netting. Perforated mesh completes the tongue for better ventilation. A yellowish mini Swoosh and eyestays bring vibrance to the muted design.
Because of this combination, some may even think that this is an aged Air Max 90 “Neon”. The colour blocking is even the same as the OG colourway.
