“Rise and shine!” says the shoe; and rise and shine we will! This new Nike Air Max 97 highly reminds us of early morning training sessions as part of the special Nike “Athletic Club”. The Nike Air Max 97 SE “Athletic Club” combines warm hues underneath the eyestay for a unique makeover.
While the other popular pack called Nike Running Club gathered iconic Air Max models; this Nike Athletic Club collection includes other vintage trainers such as the Nike Air Force 1 and Nike Blazer. Seeing the Air Max 97 be part of both was such a great idea for Nike. Another must-cop Air Max pair for 2022!
Originally released in 1997, the Nike Air Max 97 was a huge upgrade to the previous model in terms of design and tech. Designer Christian Tresser combined his love for mountain biking and appreciation for nature as he took inspiration from mountain bikes and the ripples of water. This resulted in a unique upper construction featuring gradual wavy panels; exactly how water ripples look.
The Air Max 97 is also the first Nike shoe to incorporate a hidden lacing system. The lace loops are hidden underneath the wavy panel for a unique aesthetic. Aside from that, another first for Nike is the full-length Air Max unit. It runs from heel to toe and provides solid impact protection because of the large volume Air bag.
Nike’s signature waffle traction makes a return on the outsole.
This Nike Air Max 97 SE “Athletic Club” features a white canvas fabric on the upper panels and suede on the lower panels. Yellow and Orange hues hit the middle to lower portions of the body to achieve a sunset effect.
Nike “Athletic Club” labels appear on the sockliner which is a pretty subtle detail compared to other silhouettes.
Keep an eye out for an official release date soon and expect the Nike Air Max 97 SE “Athletic Club” to launch come Spring 2022.
