Nike Air Max 97 "White Sport Red" DX8964-100

Feast your eyes on this awesome new colourway of the Air Max 97! Inspired by the OG “White Red” colourway of the Air Max 1, this rendition mimics the colour placements as well! The Nike Air Max 97 “White Sport Red” celebrates the silhouette’s 25th year in the market with a homage colourway to the Nike Air Max 1; which is also celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2022! It’s like getting two kicks for the price of one!

The Nike Air Max Day 2022 last March saw a lot of fire releases and hyped collabs of various Air Max models. Months later, we’re still getting impressive colourways of the Air Max icons! This “Sport Red” colourway is a tribute to the Nike Air Max 1, Tinker Hatfield’s masterpiece of a sneaker.

Released in 1997, the Nike Air Max 97 may not have been a Tinker Hatfield creation, but the unique design allowed the shoe to be extremely popular. Inspired by water ripples and Japanese silver bullets, the Air Max 97 features wavy panels on the upper; as well as a hidden eyestay setup which was a first for a Nike shoe.

The most popular feature found on the AM97 is none other than the full-length Air Max unit. The visible bubble provided a lot of impact protection and comfort from heel to toe because of the thick cushioning.

Bill Bowerman’s classic waffle sole makes a return and finishes off the outsole.

This Nike Air Max 97 “White Sport Red” features a White mesh base with Grey outlines on the wavy panels. Vibrant shades of Red cover the mini Swoosh, brand labels on the tongue, leather mudguard, and the visible Air Max pillars.  It mimics the Nike Air Max 1 “Sport Red” which was the debut colourway of the revolutionary model.

Expect an official release sometime in 2022 as Nike continues to celebrate 35 years of Air.
