A new retro-inspired trainer emerges 35 years after the model it took design cues from. The Nike Air Max Motif (PS) “Grey Fog Yellow” comes equipped with essential features for the modern era. Identical aesthetics found on the Nike Air Max 1 land in this latest addition to the growing Air Max roster.
Air Max Month 2022 marks the revolutionary cushioning system’s 35th anniversary. What began as a simple air bag embedded within a midsole reached greater heights with the arrival of Nike Air Max 1; where legendary designer Tinker Hatfield dared to test the limits of Air. However, after all these years, Nike Air remains as one of the most reliable and comfortable cushions in the sneaker industry. This Nike Air Max Motif takes it all the way back to 1987 with its crystal clear AM1 detailing.
Nike stuck to the basics and utilised a mesh upper with suede overlays on key areas. Highly noticeable AM1 details can be found on the wavy forefoot mudguard, the Swoosh, and the lace loops. A modern “Air Max” symbol appears on the heel panel.
Standard foam makes up the midsole, while a large heel Air Max unit taken from the Air Max 2090 provides maximum comfort and impact protection.
A waffle sole with multiple flex grooves completes the bottoms.
This Nike Air Max Motif (PS) “Grey Fog Yellow” screams “start them young” with its stylish design fit for the kids. Grey mesh makes up the upper, while hints of yellow adorn the mudguard and heel “Air Max” logo.
The translucent sole shows the large volume Air unit in the heel; as well as the holes on the forefoot midsole portion. These are implemented to allow the foam to compress.
Another pair arriving in full family sizing, it’s available now on the Nike website.
